Hump Day in Port Pirie

After a strenuous and very tiring day yesterday I obviously needed some sleep.... and lots of it.  Didn't wake this morning until 9.30am which is practically unheard of for me!

Aside from catching up on sleep, it was also an opportunity to do a bit of the usual mundane stuff like washing clothes, rearranging things that weren't in the right place and of course a spruce up for Miss Kitty.  No-one wants to live with a smelly dog and we aren't sure when we will be somewhere that will be providing enough water to wash her again from here.  I just wish we could have also washed the van which is embarrassingly dirty, but we just weren't able to get it close enough to a hose before we left without risking getting it bogged again.

We were fortunate that the guy at the caravan park was able to "fix" our wayward towing mirror.  He made no promises about how long it would last, so we decided to give it a bit of reinforcement with some trusty ole duct tape!

After all the chores were finally done, we set off for a couple of hours touring Port Pirie.  One thing is for sure about this town - when you reach the city limits you know it - I've never quite seen a place that just ends - and then there is nothing but saltbush.  It's an interesting mixture of beautiful old buildings, port buildings, massive silos and reasonable attempts to make something of the waterfront.

Our plans to take a few night shots from the caravan park were foiled by two things - wind on the water and lack of enthusiasm.  It was a cold and windy night which meant there was no reflection of the lights on the water, and so the comfort of the caravan won out over artistic expression.
